We did when we were selling our old house. It was a disaster though! They wanted to bring in all of their stuff and wanted us to put all the baby swings and such away...um we had a 4 month old! Anyway I think if you were having someone come in to help you rework rooms and use your own stuff it would be great!
I hired one only for the purpose of a consult. We didn't know how long our place would be on the market so didn't want to sink money into renting furniture (when we knew we'd be putting a lot of furniture away in storage anyway!)
The consult was $250 and worth it -- we walked room by room and got advice from every detail, whether it be what the artwork was or the paint etc etc. She did follow up with something like a $2000 estimate if decided to use their services to move things in and out and rent their furniture which we passed on. Ultimately, we just did everything ourselves and it was a huge transformation.
