Last month we were driving home from school and oldest SS pipes up: "Hey, mom, when we were in Alec's grandma's car, they said on the radio that 7 year olds were learning about SEX! At school!"
Now the only thing my kids know about sex at this point is that "sex" and "sexy" are taboo words they hear in songs and see on magazine covers in the check out line and that they're not really supposed to talk about it, so the revelation that kids would be learning about sex, and in a school, was shocking.
So, I said calmly, yes, honey, you will someday, too. Afterall, sex is where babies come from.

I ask, "was that too much information?"
His response: "Yes, mom, I'm going to explode."
Silence.
Re: my "sex" talk with our 8 year old
ha ha ha. Over the summer DS 8y/o asked us where babies really come from. How are they made... DH and I talked a lot about what we were going to say and less than a few days later he forgot all about it. We never had the chance to really discuss it.
