bubble bee costume only for girls????

Some one please tell me I'm not insane! I was shopping for DS's halloween costume and I found the cutest bubble bee costume! I called my best friend to ask what she thought and she said that bubble bee costumes are for girls, not boys. I was like, say what?! I couldnt believe what I was hearing. So I ended up with a different costume. And when I went back home and told my BF about it, he said the same thing. He said he couldnt picture our DS in a bubble bee costume....wth?!

I thought it was super cute!! He's a baby!! Does it really matter? It's not as if it was pink or purple...it was black and yellow! Geez...

...am I crazy or thinking a boy could be a bubble bee for halloween??

  • I don't see any reason why a boy can't be a bumble bee.  There is nothing about it that screams girl.  You should go for it.

  • I kind of wanted my DS to be a bumble bee too. I only found one outfit in stores and it had ballerina shoes on the feet.
  • I straight up knew a little boy who was a lady bug for Halloween when he was 2.  Progressive parents, I guess?!  He was adorable!
  • I think a bee would be cute! I was looking at them but there weren't any in DS's size. I never thought about it being a girls' costume. That's just silly. But I would let my DS be anything he wants to be. He can be a disney princess and I wouldn't care! It's a costume.
  • When I think of a bumble bee costume, I think of it as being a unisex costume, especially if the child is still young.
