Can we use blankets yet?

Can I use a small blanket to cover Z when he's sleeping? It's a little cold in our house. What age is it ok?

One: Congratulations!!!!! 2 under 2!!

Two: We use a blanket with Leo and we have for a couple of months. I know "they" normally say wait until the baby is 1 year-old, but I think Leo is just as active and aware of his surroundings as a 1 year-old...

I think it's ok, but make sure it's light material, I don't think you want something that can cover his face and be difficult to get air through. SIDS doesn't happen b/c babies can't lift their heads, it has to do with not arousing in time to realize that they are not getting enough air to do something about it.

I still use the halo sleep sacks, it keeps dd warm and no worries for me.

i have been using blankets for a while now. L slept in bed with me, right next to me, from 3 days old - 4mo and we always were under a blanket.

now that shes in her crib she has slept with one since the beginning - so for the past 2+mo.

We just started using a crocheted blanket for naps this week (9 months). DS can move about very easily and he has excellent head control. Because it's crocheted, rather than a solid knit, we have no worries about suffocation. It's a loose crochet.

we have used one since DD was about 2 weeks old or so unless we had her in a sleep sack. We have not had any problems plus it is a homemade one with holes in it.
