Babies: 3 - 6 Months

SAHMs, do you ever dread a certain time of day?

I know, I am very fortunate to be able to stay home with LO for the first year.  But here is my FFFC early, every day I absolutely dread the hours between 2p and 5p.  That time just seems to draaaaaaaaag on!  It seems like the morning flies with getting ready and playing but by the afternoon, I'm played out.  If we've gone for a walk in the morning or run some errands, LO has had enough of the car seat and screams every time I try to put her in it...  I guess I'm also anticipating DH getting home... What about you?  Any time during the day that you don't look forward to?

Re: SAHMs, do you ever dread a certain time of day?

  • Well, both of my kids get up before the sun comes up, so I dread that, but I find that they both get fuss-tastic between 4-5:30 when DH gets home and I'm trying to fix dinner.

  • 6pm-8pm. She fusses like MAD for those two hours, because she's sick of seeing just me all day. DH gets home at 8, and I swear, every time he gets home, she goes back to prefect little angel the moment he walks in the door... I swear she's making him believe that she never fusses, and that I'm fibbing when I call him every day at 7 and mention how fussy she is. Bah!

  • Well dh goes to work at 10 and gets home at 8. So I guess its more like 5-8 for me. By that time like you said, we have played everything and I just feel like there's nothing else to do.

  • Around 7:30 or 8.  It's DS's "witching hour" when he is just fussy for no reason and nothing seems to make him happy.  It's awful for both of us!  And DH works a lot of night shifts, so he's usually not there to help me.
  • I love being a SAHM too but sometimes dread 6-8 pm.  So close to bedtime and DS knows it so he's pretty cranky.

  • I get very frustrated at dinner time. 5-7 trying to cook, take care of baby who is ALWAYS cranky at that time and that is also when my toddler enters the "witching hour". the kids seem to be crying at the same time and i am just aggravated with it all.

then we all sit down and to eat dinner in 20 minutes.. took me a hour to make

i get so frustrated. i feel like i am just yeling at everyone. now is my alone time, i sit in my clean kitchen while DH has the kids and watch wheel of fortune and sip a cup of tea....ahhhhhhh.

Ugh, THIS!!  I could have written this post - DS does this ALL THE TIME!  But usually in the middle of the afternoon.

  • Caleb's post-naptime until DH gets home (usually about 2 hours in the afternoon).  It's been a long day at that point, he's board with his stuff at home but I don't like going out with him during rush-hour.  So we stay home and he gets into mischief while I lose my mind.

Speaking of... I hear him waking up from his nap... *sigh* wish me luck!

  • About 5-6ish.  DH is usually crabby right when he gets home, DD is always crabby at this time, all the crabbiness rubs off on me.

This except 5-6pm.  She is a smiling angel when he walks in the door.

  • Yes, from 4:30 to 5:30.  We usually go for a walk, but the weather has been so cold and rainy lately.  Ick!

kids have a knack for making people "think" that are easy and never cry.  my kids are perfect for everyone else. :)

  • Thank you for posting this! By about 5 PM, I'm totally burned out!
