As for personaI items I basically brought a toothbrush, a change of clothes, shampoo, conditioner and hair gel. You'll be leaking a lot so I wouldn't bother with a nice nightgown or pajamas - just use the hospital gowns. I'd bring your laptop (if you use one) and extra batteries for your camera, your cellphone charger - whatever you need/want to use to communicate the good news with folks. GL
Small bag, basic bathtime stuff like shampoo, conditioner, etc. Nursing bra, hair brush, sandals, and boppie and that's it really, they give you everything you could ever want or need.
toiletries are a must to feel human again after labor. they give you pads and things to help with recovery, as well as diapers, wipes, receiving blanket and a tshirt, and circumcision care stuff (i forgot to look if you're having a boy). i didn't need my boppy. bring your carseat and a nursing tank top for yourself and loose pants that you don't care too much about.
we had a small rollaway bag for both DH and I and LO, and we barely used much that we brought.
I ended up needing only a big t-shirt to be comfy in after I got out of the hospital gown(s) (I lived in it for the most part though, because it was a bloody mess), toothbrush, makeup and such... and of course clothes to go home in. Everything else remained in the bag, for several weeks following the delivery as I didn't have time to unpack right away
Oh, and of course laptop, camera, camcorder... and chargers for everything were a must.
Very little....toothbrush, make up if you feel up to it, toiletries like that. I wouldn't bother with moist tp, you'll use a squirt bottle for a few days probably.
I actually didn't use anything at all while I was in labor, just in my post partum room after I showered. I never used my robe or slippers (I don't usually wear them at home, didn't want them there either).
My hospital supplied Tucks, pads and underwear. You'll bleed so much you'll want to use everything of theirs. For LO, just an outfit for the trip home.
You may want to ask on 0-3... most of us are in the same boat as you.
ETA: Baby brain strikes again, this IS 0-3, lol oops!
Ahaha get used to it, it doesn't go away when you deliver!
Toiletries! That 1st shower felt so good. Pack travel size shampoo/cond. lotion, chapstick ect.
Honestly, just bring what makes you feel happy and comfortable. If you listen to lots of music in your down time and that is calming to you then bring your Ipod, or books or knitting or laptop or whatever.
You'll need something loose and comfy to go home in. Wear hospital gowns and undies. Bring the camera and DON'T forget the chargers for that and the cell phones.
I was induced so I was in an extra night... I brought movies for my laptop since there was never anything good on TV and I was up a lot...
Comfy clothes (gauchos and a tank). I was out of my hospital gown after I showered after delivery. My hospital gave me pads, underwear, etc. I brought my own toiletries and makeup and flip flops so I could walk around the hospital during labor. I did bring my own towel (dark color) b/c hospital towels are not fun. Snacks for DH (I couldn't eat until after delivery), change for the vending machine, and some magazines. I also had clothes for DH and an outfit for DD.
I used toothbrust/paste, shampoo/conditioner, etc from home. I bought cheap sweats and underwear at Target. Once I showered I really didn't want to wear the hospital gowns anymore... they were not comfortable and smelled like a hospital. You will bleed a LOT so don't bother spending money on what you're going to wear. Bring your pillow if you're picky about pillows. I also brought my laptop. Other than something for LO to wear home, that's about it.
I was like most of the ladies here-however, I would add mints or mouthwash! I had an unexpected c-section (you never know what is going to happen) and wasn't able to move around to brush my teeth! You are going to have tons of visitors, and by the second day, all I could think of was how I hadn't brushed my teeth since 3 am two days before (I made DH get me some mouthwash)!!! Don't get me wrong, you CAN move, but you are on pain meds, and your scar hurts, so the last thing you want to do is get up and brush your teeth! Also, bring maybe 3 pairs of different sized undies...you don't know how big or small you will be afterward! Good luck!!!
One thing I wish I had brought was a button up shirt. I was running a fever during labor so I had to be hooked up to an for IV 24 hours after giving birth. I just wanted to wear my own clothes but couldn't put a tee-shirt on over the "Patient Pal" that I had to wheel around with me everywhere.
DH had clothes for each day there. I had one outfit to go home in and a tank top and shorts. DD had two going home outfits(2 different sizes). Makeup, toothbrushes, all that other personal stuff. Hospital provides everything you need for LO and most the stuff you will need. Oh and we had our computer, camera, and snacks.
