We are ready to start Oliver on a sippy cup and I'm looking online at some "transitional" sippy cups but I really have no clue. Can anyone recommend a sippy cup that helped their little one transition from bottle to sippy?
I am a huge fan of the Think Baby sippy cups. My daughter dropped the bottle immediately with these and they have stood the test of time! You have to order online, can't get them at BRU or anywhere local that I am aware of.
Cool. I was just looking online at the Nuby and the Think Baby sippy cups. One review said that the Think Baby ones leaked really badly but it's definitely worth a try!
We did the Born Free with the soft spout at first and he loved it. Easy transition and great sippy. It will leak if you pinch the top and turn it over. We never had a problem with that though.
I feel like we tried a million sippies and Caroline started on the regular take and toss at daycare. Now she uses the Munchkin mighty grip for milk and the take and toss for water and juice.
For Doodle I bought one kind and one kind only...the playtex ones...she liked them just fine. With Darren I'm testing out some, have tried nuby ones - I don't like them, i can't ever get the lid to line up right with the handles and then if the plastic top is slightly out of line it leaks. I've tried a gerber one with a snap valve and handles and again, i can never screw the lid on correctly to get it to line up between the handles.
I guess i just need sippy cup training...or no handles. I'll be sticking to my good old playtex ones probably.
We've introduced the Nuby with the soft silicone top and handles. Ella picked it up with both handles and put it right in her mouth on the first try. I was shocked! My plan was to try a bunch until I found one that she'd like, but this one seems to be working, so we'll stick with it for now.
When she is able to hold the cup by herself, w/o the help of the handles, we will probably switch to the Munchkin ones w/ the flip straw.
Daycare always suggested the Nuby ones but Gavin hated them and made a mess. He did better with the Gerber rubber spouts- but they are hard to find. These are the best we've found for no leaks:
and
Also, remember to start teaching him to practice with a straw some too. It took Gavin forever to learn this and now it is so nice to be able to go into a restaurant w/o a sippy in my purse!
We started with Munchkin or Nuby soft spout and now use Playtex hard spout mostly. They do seem to leak some after you've used them for a while. Not too bad though.

FWIW: We hated the Avent "magic" cup...

I've tried these, and they leak for me. I must not be doing something right.
