How ofter to you call your child's daycare per day?

Re: How ofter to you call your child's daycare per day?

  • I called daily in the first week or so, but now, I only call if I'm worried about something, like if she was acting off in the morning and I want to make sure she's OK.

  • I put never, but I did call once when a tornado went through to make sure everyone was all right.  I also e-mail now and then, but it's pretty rare.

  • I don't call dd's nanny.  Of course, I ask her to contact me immediately if there if necessary, but she typically sends text messages.  I feel like calling would only make it harder on me...in case DD is crying...
  • I put never.  I probably call once a month if I forget to tell the teacher something at drop off or need to talk to the director about something (when we found out about her food allergies, for example).

  • i would never call unless there was something i forgot to tell them that they needed to know that day --- otherwise, I'd just wait until pickup to talk to them about it... and to find out how DS did.  I see no reason to call and check in... if anything is wrong- they will call me.
  • I put never, but I will call if DD was having an off morning. I sometimes feel odd calling just to say "How is A doing today? How is she and spitting up?" I mean it's not like I can do anything right then and I will find out when I go to pick her up.

    This exactly.

  • I didn't call but I had DH check on him and bring DS things he needed at the day care that we forgot. DH is going to school so it was easy for him to take the time to check on him those first few weeks. Now its once or twice every two weeks.

  • I only call if I worry that he's getting sick and want to check in on how he is doing.  Otherwise, I'd rather they weren't distracted from the child care by my social calls.

  • I never call. She will cal me every once in a while if she has a question.
  • I put once a day- but that is only because my mom watches DS.  So she will call me or I call her and we talk about DS and other things as well.
  • They have much more important things to do than chat.
  • I put never - but I will occassionally call if there's going to be a change in our drop off or pick up time.
  • i put never.  i used to call everyday in the begining.  now i only call if he is having an off day or just started going back to dc after being sick.
  • Never at this point unless the girls had a really bad morning or I am worried about something but its really rare.  When my older DD was a infant, I did call.  I think for the 1st month or so I called about 2 times a day and then I called about once a day until she was around a year.  I rarely called with my second but I really knew all the staff well and they knew me.  The staff knows the things that I want to hear about right away vs at pick up so they do call me from time to time to give me updates.

    Ditto this

  • I put once a day, but I call everyday at 11:30 to make sure she is awake.  I go in to nurse her during my lunch break and I don't want to waste time sitting there and watching her sleep.  So I'm not really calling to chat or check-up on her, I just ask the 1 question and hang-up.
