Obviously, I will discuss this with our pedi at DS's 1 year appt. But, I want some other opinions. DS still gets 4 bottles per day. He will take it in a sippy and I'm actually working on getting the 2 daytime bottles into a sippy. Now here is my dilema. DS is not a good eater. With the 4 bottles (1 early am (5-6 am), 1 mid-morning, 1 mid-afternoon and bedtime, he is only getting about 20 oz per day. He doesn't take more than about 5 oz. That is if, he finishes every bottle. Which generally doesn't happen for the 2 daytime bottles.
He is a horrible eater. He has good meals here and there but for the most part just doesn't eat much. Last night for dinner I think he ate a handful of puffs and about 3 bites of turkey. I tried so many different things. I've tried cutting the bottles thinking he was filling up on formula and not hungry. He still didn't eat, was cranky, and lost weight. I've tried cutting volume and same thing. I'm not really sure what to do from here. If I cut the bottles, he isn't getting enough nutrition. However, he has to start eating better. I think is not eating is linked to his sleep issue, (see post below). He is still up to have a bottle in the early am then goes back to sleep. I know he should be able to go all night without eating but clearly he isn't getting enough in during the day.
So, any helpful advice? Also, I seriously doubt we will be transitioning to milk at 1 year. He was just diagnosed with milk protein issues and is soy intolerant. That limits our non-formula milk options. I'm very frustrated and I'm not sure where to go from here. I know not all kids are off of the bottle by 1 year and I'm totally okay with that. However, 4 bottles per day is kind of excessive too. Isn't it? WDYT?
Re: Bottles, Feeding and a Mom who needs help
Change mid morning bottle to sippy with lunch and mid afternoon bottle to sippy with supper. Mid morning try some water in sippy and a light snack and same mid afternoon. Hope that helps.
Liam is a horrible eater as well. He use to be great now he is extremely picky but he will drink his milk.
Just talk to your Dr. He isn't even a year yet and might have to continue on the bottle for a while after he turns a year. As with any milestone, it is not about dates, but about when your LO is ready.

He weighs right around 19 lbs. He's gained less than a lb since his 9 month check-up.
