BONUS points if its embarrassing!!!
I had enough leakage at lets say 30 weeks to soak thru panties onto my shorts..just a dime size spot. Then no more. I called in and they said to go in...
Turns out it was pool water that had gotten up there from my earlier swim.
I say that earns a bonus point...What about you??
Re: In honor of SportyMrs..post your false alarms!!
You definitely earn bonus points for posting that!
Emmalee was due Feb 14th, on Jan 31st DH was out with friends at a bar. I had been having contractions on and off all day. At 7pm they started getting worse and more frequent. I called the doc on duty and she said to go to the hospital for observation. I was there 3-4 hours while they monitored me. The nurse made a comment that I might have my c/s that night. I said "I cannot give birth tonight! I hate the January birthstone!"
She kind of chuckled and said, don't worry, we can wait until after midnight if necessary. hehehe.
Mine is kind of the opposite ... but shows you it doesnt hurt to check in with the nurses even if it ends up?being?a false alarm.
I was having?contractions?but kept waiting it out because I wasnt sure that it was 'real' labor. So I continued trying to labor at home. Finally I called and the nurses told me to go ahead & come in.
When I got there & they checked me I was 8 cm dilated and next thing you know - I was getting ready to push. They were calling the Dr. trying?to?get her in asap - she walked in, the nurse held the stool while she flopped down on it - and meanwhile she was literally reprimanding me for waiting to long. I was?writhing?in pain while she yelled " WHY did you wait so long???" I shot David a look of death as I?contemplated?kicking this women. Seriously lady! WHO yells at someone when theyre in labor????

For the entire week before I had N I had pretty good contractions, but they lasted a long time, the contrax were about 3 minutes long with a couple minutes between them. I called L&D and they scoffed and said "Hon contractions don't last that long, are you sure you know how to time them" I was pissed! and felt like an idiot, but I was sure that I was timing them right and that they were lasting that long.
So fast forward 2 days, I finally get tired of dealing with these super long contractions which have gotten stronger, I call L&D and lie and tell them the contrax are text book and I'm coming in. They hook me up and what do ya know, I have 3 minute long contractions. The nurse actually apologized for who ever laughed at me and N was born about 6 hours later.
I walked around for over three weeks at 2 (then 3) centimeters dilated and over 90% effaced. On "false alarm" day, I had been having painful contractions that were anywhere from 3-8 minutes apart for about 8 hours. I decided to call my Doctor's office (I wanted to labor at home as long as possible) and was told to head into L&D. Checked into L&D, got strapped to the monitors, and I was having contractions, they just weren't in a regular pattern yet. They had me walk the halls for an hour to see if my cervix would change or if the contractions would start sticking to a pattern. Neither changed, so I was determined to be in the latent stage of labor and not yet active. When I was being discharged (6:05pm on Thursday) I felt like such an idiot. Everyone always says "You'll know when you're in labor," but I'm a pretty smart person, and I was fooled. However, the nurse did tell me "Go walk 5 miles and I guarantee you'll be back within 24 hours." So, the next morning I hit the gym and did 5 miles on the treadmill. My water broke at 5:30pm that afternoon, and I checked back into L&D at 6:05pm (exactly 24 hours from when I had been discharged the night before). It was the same nurse that checked me in and all she could do was smile.
good luck, you're not alone, and we're all so excited for you!!
PS: The nice part about having already been admitted for a false alarm, was the paperwork! Since I had completed the paperwork the night before, I only had to fill out one little piece of paper when I was admitted for the real deal. That was really nice, considering I was in pain and the rupture in my bag of waters was making it's presence known! Clean up on Aisle 5. lol.
I'm extremely embarrassed to say that I had SEVERAL false alarms. Pretty early on, I would get these stabbing intense pains in my lower abdomen. Felt like I was being ripped in two and totally stopped me in my tracks and took my breath away.
The first few times I was hooked up to monitors to find out nothing, what ever was happening would stop with some lying down & relaxation.
Then it woke me up at night, and the next morning was just as intense. I was doing breathing excersizes, and on my knees over a stool to keep some pressure off of me. Went to the ER, monitored and the whole 9 yards only to find out those pains I was experiencing was constipation. So bad that when they went to check me it was obvious to the MW that was the problem. So embarrassing,

but true. From my blog... a full WEEK before Andrew arrived... it ended with me at the hospital... 3 cm dilated... but nothing progressing even worth while.
The nurse finally told me... if you can CALL L&D to ask to come in... you're not ready to come in. Come in when you can't talk through contractions. And so I waited... and waited...

"Expected" Due Date...
Today is my expected due date. That silly, almost arbitrary date that the doctors picked out as an estimate of when we can expect Baby C to arrive. Somewhere along the line, they even thought about changing my "due date" to a little earlier, as they though Baby C was measuring "ahead of schedule," but my doctor assured me that the chances of the baby coming ON my due date (which ever date they picked) was sooooo slim that she just kept it the same. So, here I sit, at 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 15th... WIDE awake. Why, you may ask??? Well... I'm having contractions. I've been having them since about 2 a.m. this morning. At first they were much like what I experienced before... low level of pain... not very close together. But now... over the last hour... the pain level has increase (only slightly) and so has the frequency. Could this be it?
omg, DH would've delivered B at home if they had told me that!!!!?
J - My MOH's DH... DID have to deliver her baby at home!! Woke at midnight with cramps... baby born at 3 a.m.... with DH and the Doula (TG!) in the bathroom.
Goes to show you... EVERY labor is SO different!!
TG for the Doula! I can just imagine my DH screaming like a girl!!! He wouldve been a mess. lol!?
Let's just say that their 2nd baby... was induced EARLY at the hospital!!
