I have been "full term" for what, two days now, and my family/IL's are already driving me absolutely insane. I don't know how I'm going to make the next few weeks without seriously hurting some feelings. I am being treated like everyone thinks I'm going to slink off into the woods to have my young in hiding like a wild animal and won't return until he's a month old or so. (And really, I'm starting to understand why our family dog did this so many years ago.)
My father is the absolute worst, which completely caught me off gaurd. NOTHING is off limits with him now. The state of my cervix is appropriate mixed company dinner conversation. His new favorite opening line is, "Well your mother..." Apparently I'm going to have my baby early because she did. I should have my baby without pain meds, because she did. Oh, and all that tearing and cutting they had to do to unwedge my brothers head with the forceps wasn't THAT BAD. He "knows" because he had to help change her bandages. And his newest thing is that I shouldn't try to breastfeed because EBF babies never sleep and they eat all the time. Oh, and my mother gave us formula and it was good enough for us.
I understand that everyone is excited, I get it. But this is going to be the longest maybe 4+ weeks of my life at this rate.
Re: Oh Em Eff Gee, a vent.
I know it, right? My stepmother started laughing when he pulled out the "it wasn't that bad" line. I wish he wouldn't have saved up all his crazy to the very end.
Yea, when I was speaking to my Dad (long, long story) after I had Layla, he was trying to talk to me about BFing, I was like, um... stay out of it.?
I do not understand how men think they?can relate anything to being pregnant and going through?childbirth! It makes me nuts!?
?
Ugh, that sucks, especially since you've probably got a few more weeks. My ILs and parents are more subtle - every time we call we get the "Soooo...anything exciting happening?". No. "Oh, not yet?"
People, it would be the first thing I say when you answer, not two minutes into our conversation - chill the frig out.
