I made the biggest stupid mistake...grrr!

As I was filing my paperwork yesterday, I was wondering why we got 2 electric bills. Only for dh to point out that one was someone elses...And apparently theirs is the one I paid!!

WTH? I can not find my reciept and they don't have surveilance cameras at the drive through window. So basically, I have no proof that I paid theirs and not ours.

We don't have the money for these kind of mistakes and I feel SO stupid. I will rechecked everything for now on. I hope they people who got a free bill, are in worse shape then we are! It's going to take a couple of months to make up for this!

    sorry. that sucks. Did you write a check? wouldn't they be able to notice that the check was different than the name on the account?

    Did you pay with check or cash?

    If you have the information for the person's you paid - can  you just contact them and explain the situation? It might sound like a scam to them but you could ask them to call the electric company to verify that their bill was indeed paid.

    We got our neighbors electric bill once by mistake.  But luckily we got ours the day before so I noticed it wasn't ours.  That really sucks that you paid it before getting your own.  Sh!t happens I guess.  Sorry for the lost funds!!!!
