how horrible is this name?

DH worked with someone named Blaize (pronounced blaze) and he's always said how much he loves the name and wants to use it when we have kids. I really don't care for it and can't help to think the reason he thinks its so cleaver is because of the weed reference. If we used it it would be a middle name and if it's a girl we're leaning towards Callie, no clue for a boy, so it would be Callie Blaize. He feels so strongly about it and its just a middle name that I'm incline to let it go, but is it really bad enough its worth a fight? BTW apparently it is a saint's name.

Um, it's different, for sure. But I don't think it would be too bad as a middle name.

Maybe you can look up the meaning and see what it means? Name meanings are pretty important to DH and I, so if it means something not so nice, then you could persuade him to change it based on that.

I personally do NOT like it. I do know someone named Blaize and he's great but I can't stop from thinking it reminds me of some kind of wrestler or male stipper's name or something,

I don't think it's bad. My friend used Blaise as the MN of their son. It's a saint's name as well as Blaise Pascal (I believe a mathemetician?). I also knew an adult named Blaise. Not too bad in my book. But definitely check out the references in case it is a name of someone you don't agree with or whatever.

oh- it's up to you about using it but we know some people who just had a son they named blaze. they named the first boy cruz and i just think "what are they trying to proove?" the names just sound kind of made up to me but that being said, i totally understand that you might want to let your dh have his say since he's so set on it. another poster a long time ago said something that i adopted after i saw it. she said the baby would have a first name they both loved and it would be given his last name so the middle name was hers to choose. which is what i went home and told dh. i would never go with something he hated but i think thats fair.

And Callie...eh...I've never met a girl named Callie that had, um...let's just say morals, so I don't really like it either. But that's just me! I have a dog that we call Cali, because her full name is Caliber lol.

The name of the saint is spelled "Blase" and it's a boy's name. I would not give a girl this name... especially if your husband is using it because he sees it as a drug reference. That's awful. Why not just name your kid Mary Jane and go all in.

I am sorry but if you think your SO wants to use it because of the drug ref. I think you both need to agree on something else. When I see Callie Blasie it makes me think the parents are potheads, that have nothing else better to do with their time then name their children what someone would name a dog.
