My mom & DH are telling me to get DD a haircut already, and her hair will grow more.
I always thought that was a myth, so I've been hoping & wishing that DD's hair will miraculously grow one night (it's very thin & fine right now).
What do you know about this?
Re: Cutting hair makes hair grow faster... myth???
I would say it is true in my DS's case, he got his hair cut a month ago and already needs another hair cut.
it's myth.
sloughing off dead cells (whether skin, nail or hair) doesn't make new growth quicker. It just makes it more evident.

the ends of your hair have nothing to do with it's growth.
hair stylist here and TRUE!!
although as PP's said, your hair does grow from your roots, im guessing we all know this?
but when your hair split's at the end, it causes a reaction not unlike a "run in your pantyhose". so, you put clear nail polish on the end to stop the run. if you dont cut the ends of your hair, your hair shaft will keep splitting till it breaks off.
so regular trims will keep your hair growing longer and not breaking as often!!
This makes sense for someone like me that gets my hair colored and uses a flat iron....but a babies hair isn't "Damaged". So in this case it's false. You might notice the growth more because it's shorter, I did with DS the first time he got his hair cut. But it doesn't make it grow "faster" just healthier ( for us who've had hair for 20+ years) IMO.
This is what's true (the bolded part). Your hair doesn't actually grow faster, it just appears that way because there is less breakage.
