I think DH is nesting

I can't find another explanation for his behavior today.

My normally laconic husband picked today - at 94 degrees - to mow our entire lawn, edge the driveway, clean out the garage, hired a kid to rake the front and back yard, and still managed to stop and buy me a giant soft pretzel because he knows that I'm still not feeling good and am having a hard time finding anything I want to eat.

I'm SO grateful for all his hard work, but it's really too early to start this nesting stuff, IMO, and also, I miss him!  We have so few Saturdays that we can really spend alone together as it is, and now that there's a baby coming, those will be getting even more limited before too long.

Anyone else's husband start nesting like this?

  • that is so cute! Mine is off and on. He's currently "off" - watching football all day and night.

  • That is adorable!  My DH never went through the nesting phase, but he did have to finish all of the projects that I started and was too tired to finish.

  • That is sweet!  My DH nested early like that last spring when we got pregnant.  This time, he didn't start right away, but is definitely into it now.  He has been working on cleaning out the garage so I can park there this winter and has put a lot of time in preparing the room that will become the nursery.  There were several unfinished projects in there (finishing a closet, replacing some floor boards, repairing walls, etc.) that need to be done before we can even thing of decorating.  He (with the help of his dad) has gotten a lot done in the last month, though!
  • Aw! That's sweet but I know what you're saying! K got into an obsessive clean out the garage and yard work pattern and it drove me a little nuts too. I know for us it started to wear off some towards the end of 1st tri but now K is obsessing over improvements to the house and painting. lol! I think it's there way of feeling "pg" since they can't feel the changes in our bodies that we do. I had to make a point of reminding K that our time at home alone shouldn't be packed with 100% house work after a few weeks of his nesting. GL!

  • Here's what makes me nervous.  If he decides to start painting, we're in trouble, because he can't paint to save his life.  The last time he tried, he got so frustrated that I found him sitting on the kitchen floor, crying.  I kid you not.  So he's not allowed anymore.
  • OMG! Meepit that is so sweet! Especially the pretzel part, because I am right there with you not being able to find anything to eat!! And the painting same here! Good Luck sounds like he is on a mission!
