a box of 512 wipes last? I registered for a box and someone purchased it for my shower next week, but now I'm thinking maybe I should register for another. I like to give options but I don't want to seem too greedy. And I don't want them to dry out before I use them either.
Also, did you register for a wipe warmer? I wasn't going to but now I'm thinking I probably should since he's being born in Dec.

Re: Does anyone know how long
I have always heard that the warmer dries out the wipes. Frankly, you want your baby to be as easy to take care of as possible, if that makes any sense. I would start by just using regular wipes. If changes seem to be bothering baby, rub the wipe between your hands to warm it up.
I don't remember how long a box of wipes lasts. You get more proficient at changing diapers as you go along. I remember that DH always used more wipes than I did, but I also changed more diapers. What do they estimate -- 10-12 diapers a day at the beginning? DS was EBF and pooped every time he ate (roughly every 2 hours). If I used 3 wipes for each diaper, that could be as much as 36 wipes/day so a 512 box would only last a couple weeks.
As far as storing wipes, they'll stay moist as long as the plastic package hasn't been opened. Plus, if you re-seal it properly, they'll stay moist for quite a long time. I think I have a package that's been open for 6 months and is still fine.
Wipes last a long time without drying out, just don't open the package.
And wipe warmers are a huge waste of money not to mention a hazard.
Warmers are a waste, unless you are going to change your baby everytime where the warmer is located anyway...
