Are you buying a Maternity winter coat?

Since it's snowing here in NE today (UGH!) I started thinking about what I was going to do about a winter coat since the 3 I have aren't going to fit here pretty soon....are you buying an actual maternity coat, or just a normal one, but in a bigger size? Anyone know of any other places besides Motherhood that sell maternity coats? TIA! :)

Re: Are you buying a Maternity winter coat?

  • No.  Most of my coats are a little big, anyways.  If I really start to outgrow my coats, then I might buy a new coat, but just in a bigger size.

  • Someone posted a link to a really cute Old Navy coat yesterday I think.  I won't be getting one-don't really need one in Miami. Huh?
  • gap maternity is having a sale right now on coats....although they only have a few.

  • I was going to I live in Northern Illinois and it's a must. I had a friend lend me her maternity coat though! Score!! But I was not going to get just a "bigger size" because I am petite and it would have looked crazy. I want to look pregnant not overweight lol I was going to get one on Ebay!

  • Old navy has some cute ones, and they are probably the least expensive (unless you want to search consignments stores).  I am definitely getting a maternity coat rather than a normal coat in a bigger size.  I will already be the size of a house, and I can least get something that will be the most flattering cut for a pregnant shape.  IMO a non-maternity coat that will be big enough to cover my bump will just make me look obese.
  • Not sure if I am getting one or not.  My current coats fit okay if I just don't button the stomach area buttons.  target and old navy have some online that are fairly inexpensive.
  • I want to can't find one though
  • I just ordered one from gap online.

I hope it works out. I'm really not into online shopping but it seems like the only way I can find good maternity stuff.

  • someone gave me one otherwise I probably wouldn't have. I never used one with dd who was born in December. I was usually hot as h*ll then anyway just from being pregnant
  • nope just wore it undone right toward the end. I had no problems fitting into my jacket the rest of the time.
  • I'm going to get the cheap one at Old Navy.  Not wearing a winter coat in MN is not an option, but I am not paying a fourtune for one I will only wear 2-3 months.

  • Depends on how big I get ... it will be freezing here in Chicago and won't likely be able to stand just partially zipping up my down coat ... so, if I can't zip up, then I'll might have to break down and purchase one.

Yeah, I'm in Chicago too.. and I think I'm going to try all my coats on and see if I can find one that works before I break down and buy anything else.

  • target online has some cute ones that aren't too exprensive. That's probably where I'll get mine.

  • It gets very cold and windy here...my other coats are already getting too tight in the tummy and I don't think I'll be able to deal with just not buttoning them.  So I ordered this one from ON.  It feels like it's going to be pretty warm and very roomy!

  • I live in SoCal so there is no need for a coat.  I got the sweater coat from ON though since it's heavy enough for what we call cold.

I just got this and LOVE IT! It will fit over my belly and is pretty good looking. I figure I will probably need it after the baby is born too.

I actually ordered this coat as well, I have found gap fits great with the maternity, so if you have regular clothes from there it will work fine.

In Minnesota it is a must and my vest is very tight and it is already below 40 in October so I figured I had to get a coat to last until February in the cold that will come in the next few months. Gap and Old Navy have some very good quality and cute jackets.

  • Never have!  We are right niext door in IA my Columbia coat is a little big so it will work just fine.  For some reason I'm always hot while pregnant so I've also just worn my fleece alot of times  :)

  • I love the Gap jacket. Too bad it's over $100... no way Im spending that kind of money on a coat that I'll wear for like 2 months.?

    ?

The ones at Target are really cute. They are better looking in person then they are online. ?

  • Borrowed a maternity coat from my sister-I would have checked Target if she didn't give me since they are reasonably priced for the short time it would be worn.
  • i bought a jacket yesturday at Kohls, it is a normal jacket and my normal size but it has buttons so it will adjust to my belly. this way i can wear it for the next few years. i looked at maternity jackets and i dont think it is worth the money.
