Big girl bed...phase 1.

We spent an hour babyproofing Gracie's room better.  She doesn't really play in her room so we still needed to put some outlet covers on.  The ones that accomodate her a/c adapters so she can't unplug anything herself.  We put straps on her dresser drawers because she opens them and tries to climb them.  Then we put door locks on her bifold closet doors so she cant go routing through her closets.

I realize this is very anal of us but we needed the peace of mind for this transition.  The only reason we're even doing this is because she's trying to climb out.  If she wasn't doing that we'd probably leave her in her crib until she was 3 or 4.

We've been talking to her about it and showing her pictures of babies with big girl beds online.  She seems skeptical.

Re: Big girl bed...phase 1.

  • We did the same thing with the outlet covers and dressers before we got DD's big girl bed.  DD has been in her bed since February and it's never really been an issue.   The first few nights she would get up and sleep on the floor but then I guess she realized her bed was more comfortable.  But we've never had an issue with her getting up and playing or messing with things.  GL!  I hope it's a smooth transition.

  • hi pookie!

we don't plan on moving S into a "big girl" bed for a while. she started climbing out of her crib at 15 months and a crib tent fixed that! ;)
