I am PRETTY sure that its the Iron in the cereal that makes them constipated- and all the oatmeal I've seen is also iron fortified... so it wont make a difference in the constipation dept.
we'll be starting with rice - it's considered to be the least likely to have any allergy effect.
babies get used to it.... they might be constipated a little when you first start- but should not be a long term problem, esp since you will add in fruits/veggies soon after.
We will be doing millet, then oatmeal. Rice has been found to have high level of arsenic, and the UK equivalent to the FDA does not recommend rice or rice cereal for anyone under the age of 2.5.

I think it has to do with iron, but rice is also part of the BRAT diet for diarrhea, so it's like a double whammy.
