I posted this awhile back in 2nd tri, thought I'd re-post since I've seen a few questions about hemmie relief lately.
I've had hemmies for years, ever since DS was born. They flare up every now and then. A few years ago my dad (of all people) gave me this fool-proof remedy:
Buy a bunch of celery, clean it well and cut it up into chunks. Big chunks, small chunks...whatever. Stick 'em in a saucepan and boil the hell out of them. Until they are smooshy and translucent. Strain the liquid into a glass or bowl, discard the celery remains. Drink the liquid. Hot or cold, it doesn't matter. Celery has something in it that shrinks blood vessels. I swear by it and I don't bother with the over the counter stuff anymore. It shrinks those puppies right up in a few hours.
CON: Whenever DH sees me boiling celery (or smells the celery when I've tried to sneakily boil it while he was at work) he knows what's up.
