Beatrice...it sounds a little old lady to me but I had a really cute student with the name. And, older names are coming back.
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Neither one is really my speed, but I do prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. With Beatrix, all I can think of is adding Potter to it. I do like the NN Bea (pronounced Bee), ala Bea Arthur. G/L!
I actually like Beatrix better. Sounds classic, but a bit different. Popular in the UK. As is Poppy.. which you liked for a NN... I LOVE Poppy for a MN!
.... I actually like Beatrix better! (I also think of Beatrix Potter...but I don't think that's a bad thing?)
x 100000. Beatrice = fuddy-duddy, like Bertha and Gertrude.
Beatrix = also uncommon, but ageless, has a "cool" factor, and is CLEARLY not made up (good associations w/Beatrix Potter)... Plus you could call her Trixie, which is far better than "Bea" as a NN....

i actually am the exact opposite! I could never take a "trixie" seriously, but I think "Bea" is cute... I have a friend named Beatrice and while it's NMS, it's a nice old fashioned name and she loves it!

I like Beatrice--and the NN Bea--a lot.
Beatrix reminds me of Beatrix Potter.
