Any of you not spending $600 on a stroller?

  • I think even a few hundred is too much;  for DD we bought a Snap N Go ($60) and then a FP stroller (made by Britax) for $45 and an umbrella from Evenflo for $50.  All work just great.  Up until I got pg again, I was walking 3 miles/day w/DD in the stroller or the umbrella.

  • i felt like i was the only one not able to get the 600 uppa stroller!  i cant imagine spending that kind of money for something the baby will only use for a year or so.   graco gets good reviews and is able to fit much better in my budget!  thanks for makin me feel like i wasnt the only broke one in the bunch!! :)

  • lol, no and even if we had that kind of money, we don't use a stroller enough to justify that expense.

  • No, I can't justify paying that much for a stroller.  Like a PP mentioned, there are many nice strollers for much less; especially, when you only have one child.  With my son, we bought the Baby Trend Jogger travel system.  I love it, and have no complaints.  I think it was approximately $200.00, which included the infant seat.  Now that I am expecting my second child, I am finding that the double strollers cost a little more, since I would something with big tires for hiking trails, but I still don't plan to spend $600.00.  I can get the Baby Trend Sit & Stand, the Baby Trend double jogger, and an umbrella stroller for less than $600.00.

IF we drop 600 I will be getting a peg perego set and a BOB for when I can get back to running. I will spend well over three hundred on my convertible seat we have the britax boulevard convertible car seat picked out.

Not to dis (diss?) my own infant seat but the Peg is SO heavy and way more expensive than any other brand. The only reason we got it is because I wanted the Peg stroller and only Peg car seats are compatible for travel system use.

And we couldn't do the Graco Snugride + snap n go because my husband has issues of which I am not even interested in trying to understand anymore. Le sigh.

Just so you know the new Peg Perego Si stroller(which is great) accepts all major car seats.  It is really easy to attach the seat as well.  This stroller is on our list for this reason.  I've played with it and it is very light and has an umbrella type of fold.  It is $250ish .

  • We're not.  We plan to wear baby as much as possible, especially in the first year.  So I made my own Moby-type wrap for $10 (actually I made two with $20 of fabric) and have registered or an Ergo Carrier.

We'll get the Graco SnugRide 32 and I bought a used Snap n Go stroller frame for $30 at a consignment shop.

I have also registered for a Keekaroo Karoo lightweight stroller for next summer and fall when we'll be travelling a lot.

  • We are just getting a stroller from babies r us i think.. Probaby going to spend around 200. I would never pay 600 for a stroller.

A kid's in a stroller a lot longer than a year!  Some kids aren't even walking at a year.  My DD will be 17 months and although she likes to walk, she's all over the place.

  • I think everyone prioritizes their baby expenditures differently.

We are using a crib from my aunt, bought a dresser and foam mattress at Ikea, did not get an expensive bedding "set", have not bought ANY new baby clothes, etc...but I want a really nice stroller (although if I can find a used one I am OK with that).

  • NO WAY!  We registered for the Elyse Graco Travel System from BRU.  I as well did not want to register for something I could not afford to purchase myself.
  • We are not. I got a Maclaren Quest for deep discount ($80!!) at TJ Maxx and we will also get a BOB revolution. I'm still on the fence about the snap-n-go frame - I will register for it but if I don't get it as a gift, I may not bother at all. We shall see.
