3rd Trimester

Paranoia (a vent on myself)

Alright, so I never thought I would be one of those overprotective mothers, but now I am afraid that I just might become one.

My LO definitely is developing a movement pattern and she is much more active between 6-10 PM than she is any other time of day. Well, for the last couple of days she has been more sporadic with her movement and instead of feeling lots of movement from 6-10, I feel several movements an hour all day long. The problem is that even though I know she is fine and is just changing up her schedule it drives me crazy to have more than 15-20 minutes of inactivity from her in the evening.

Every evening I start to panic and just as I'm beginning to want to poke or shake her she starts kicking. I get so annoyed with myself for being worried and then I spend the next 10 minutes just watching my stomach move and jump. Ugh! I hope that I can relax at least a little bit once this LO is outside of my tummy and I can actually see her all the time!

Re: Paranoia (a vent on myself)

  • I'm guilty of poking and moving my belly around to try to get her kicking.  I get paranoid when I don't feel her at her "normal" times too.

I think as long as we are aware of the movements, its fine.  And if you ever don't feel anything for a long time, just call the doctor.  Worst case scenario is they have you come in and they monitor the baby for awhile only to find out everything is fine.

  • I read in WTEWYE that baby's change their sleeping habits around that time.  As long as you are feeling movements regularly, then everything should be fine.  If you are concerned, talk with your doctor about it next visit.
