I understand if you have it comfortably, that the Uppababys are great strollers. But I can't fathom spending that personally and it makes me feel cheap cause so many people are getting it! We plan on spending around $200-300 but haven't decided on which yet.
Re: Any of you not spending $600 on a stroller?
I was pretty set on the Bugaboo but I hate that it folds in two pieces. It's really easy to collapse and set up, but I just felt like it wasn't the right one for me. I also looked at the uppababy but just didn't like it as well.
So, even though we were planning on dropping $600 on a stroller, we ended up with the Peg Perego Aria Oh and we spent $200.
Phew. Another sane person?
Not to dis (diss?) my own infant seat but the Peg is SO heavy and way more expensive than any other brand. The only reason we got it is because I wanted the Peg stroller and only Peg car seats are compatible for travel system use.
And we couldn't do the Graco Snugride + snap n go because my husband has issues of which I am not even interested in trying to understand anymore. Le sigh.
Convertible car seat is different to me. That's all about extreme safety and there is NO price on that. Plus I don't want to have to spend money on two different ones after LO reaches 22 lbs. We'll definitely be getting a good one of those.?
And I guess a BOB if you're a runner makes sense. I'd like to tell myself if I get a jogging stroller i'll be more tempted to use it, but that's rubbish so the money would be just wasted in my case.?
Ummm... For me, $600 could be spent better than on a stroller. Hell, it could go into savings.
The one that we registered for is around $200. I didn't register for anything that we couldn't afford ourselves.
See I've never gotten to play with the peg in person because babies r us doesn't carry them in stock and every high end baby store I know of has gone out of business. We ended up with the Chicco cortina travel system and the britax for the convertible car seat.
There are plenty of decent strollers for not much money.
We used a snap n go in the beginning. We do have a bugaboo, but we also have a chicco umbrella stroller (the capri). I actually hate it. I'm not tall, 5'6" and when I walk my feet hit the wheels, and I feel like I'm bending when holding the handles. So don't get that one LOL
I've heard bad things about the Graco metrolite only because it's bulky and heavy. You'd be better off going with an upgraded umbrella stroller that is easy to toss in the car.
Thing to look for: make sure the basket is large (I put at least my purse in there and hang the diaper bag over the handle bars) and easily accesible. The chicco is not...the metal bars block most of the basket. Walk with the stroller in the store to see about height/strides, etc. Make sure the stroller reclines to several different positions. You'll want one that goes pretty far back to almost flat for an infant (unless you don't plan on using the stroller for an infant)
Maclaren's are great strollers. I'm going with the twin techno for my double. The Volo is their bottom model I think, and would be too flimsy for an everyday stroller, but the Triumph and Techno are great and very sturdy. The Techno has better wheels, reclines to more positions (5 vs 3) and thicker, nicer fabric than the Triumph.
We didn't buy the infant seat ourselves, it was a gift which is honestly the only reason I went ahead with this set. The price tag is disgusting and it's not any better (safer) than a Graco or Chicco.
We had major stroller issues. Major.
The BRU in Brea has the car seat in store if you want to check it out.
I hate the twin techno! I use it with the twins I nanny and it doesn't steer wheel and if they kids are heave at all its like pushing them through sand! Maybe its because they're getting too big for it but they're only 3.
Well, gee. I was being really nice and then I basically noticed that you called me insane. So thanks.
Yeah the only reason why my boss loved hers she said was that its big enough for her babies to stay in it till they were one.
The Peg car seat?
I absolutely love the stroller we bought. We wanted a cute gender neutral stroller that didn't scream baby (with bunnies and teddy bears) that also had great safety ratings and economically smart. We chose a Graco stroller with the snugride carseat.

No no no you aren't insane! I'm sorry that came out wrong. Your post was really helpful and like I said if you can afford it, thats fine. I guess I meant people like me who'd really have to budget to be able to spend that on a stroller only.?
OH NOOOOOO!!! You've ruined me LOL I only pushed it in the store empty and then with my 22 lb DD on one side.
My other option was the city mini double (or micro now) but even though it's about the same width, it just FEELS so much bigger, mostly because the frame has more fabric, etc. My SIL has the city mini double and I've pushed my DD and my nephew in it and it is fabulous. It's actually less $ than the Maclaren. Maybe I need to rethink this.
Thank you for noticing that and responding...it's nice to have real life feedback. I did see reviews on the websites, but it was positive for the most part.
Yeah.
OMG!! I was totally kidding/being sarcastic. I put the stinking smiley face emoticon thing after it, but it didn't show up. Not mad at all LOL, my DH does think I'm insane
(I'll just add the smiley myself there, the old fashioned way)
Yeah I have never used the city mini but the twin techno is awful! DH and I took them to disneyland and we just about died with it. My sister had 3 kids and tried it out and said it was way too strenuous to push and we of course don't want to work too hard LOL
Ok good! The last thing I want to do is offend any one. And i'm pretty sure all of our husbands think we're insane. Mine is calling me Bump instead of Babe tonight cause i've been on here so long.
I am getting this one...it has giraffe print, my fave!!

To the poster above, I have the Maclaren Twin Triumph and I would love it except it isn't for all surfaces. It's great at the airport, folds really small, fits in small spaces, also great for a few hours at the zoo as both kids can see as well as the mall.
I agree with the other poster to, I took it to Disney...and pushing it all day long was killer. I am looking for a double jogger. There are a lot of places we go where a street stroller cannot. I was hoping to grab a Bob Revolution Dualie at the REI sale.
My MIL got us a $300 stroller/car seat combo for $80 at a friend's yard sale. The kicker? The only reason it was for sale (it was brand new!) was that the baby's mother didn't like the color and made her get another one!
The one we are registering for is $250.00. Now my Nana who is orginal from Scotland is ordering us a modern up to date pram (which are these lavish stroller) she is paying $1000.00 for it!! There not for long traveling more for park walking and short trips! I argued with her over this but she bought all of her children one to use when we were babies and she insists this is a tradition...I can't argue with tradition I suppose...
But this of course is all about lifestyle. We did spend $600 on a stroller for our first (about $725 total with accessories). But we don't drive. We live in a city and walk several (often 5+) miles a day with the stroller. We are also out in all kinds of weather - rain, snow, wind - so we needed the extra accessories like a footmuff and rain cover. And we bought some saddle bags for extra storage, as we do all our shopping (groceries, target, etc) with the stroller. So for us, spending the money on a stroller and related accessories made sense.
On the other hand, we bought a simple, inexpensive ($50 on sale) convertible carseat to use when we travelled to Grandma's house. We skipped the infant carrier entirely. Our seat is rated well (meets all safety regulations, etc) but is not plush like the Britax and doesn't have all the "bells and whistles." Our son is perfectly safe in it for the 5 or 6 times a year we use it.
For your budget i would go straight to the Peg Perego line.. They have a new stroller called the Peg Perego Si and it is VERY nice.. Its in your price range and the quality of stroller your getting is great too..
