When to choose a Pediatrician?

Just curious to know when all of you have, or plan to choose pediatricians. Also, this is my first baby, so I'm not sure, but do pediatricians still come to the hospital when the baby is born, or do you not see them until after the birth at the baby's first check up?

    Good question ... my last doc visit was last Friday ... she asked me if I had preregistered ... which I have ... and she also asked me if I had found a pediatrician yet ... I guess I'll be looking pretty soon ... hadn't done that but she gave me the impression that it might be a good idea to start soon.

    At my hospital a peditrician will check LO after birth, but it will not be the one we are going to. We have two different hospital companies really close to us and the pediatrician that we are going works for a different compnay than where I'm delivering. Its pretty common and wont have any issues with it.

    We got a couple of names but haven't called any to schedule an interview.  I think one of the questions to ask is if they come to the hospital or you just call after the baby is born to schedule first visit.
