"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasured day you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart...let me hold you while I may."
Like it's spelled, Evangeline. It's a long I sound, not a long E sound. Like Pine, Mine, Vine, I could go on....
I'm from the South, but for the record, I'd never heard of it pronounced the way you were saying, Evangeleen.
This. Apparently I am in the minority, but I have only heard this name pronounced as "line" at the end. Also, for what its worth, Baby Names World lists both pronunciations as possibilities ...
I would say -een, but you probably will run into people who say it -line (as in draw a line), or even -lyn. I'd think -een is most common, though, and people will get it right after they hear you say it once.

Those words are part of the English language. Evangeline, as with most names, originates elsewhere. Just like Celine, Angeline, Sandrine, Sabine, Yasmeen, Jasmine... Not all names are pronounced phonetically.

Right, I was just being silly. But do you really pronounce "Caroline" Caroleen and Madeline Madeleen?
I can see how someone would pronounce it Evangeleen, I'm just shocked by how everyone seems to think the other pronunciation is "ignorant" or "never been used."
Re: How would you pronounce our girls name???
E-van-gel-een...
I don't think alot of people will make that mistake because of the actress Evangeline Lilly...who's on lost. (i think)
