TTC After a Loss

Idk who is up but I have a quick question

Doctor said we should wait another month before we start TTC. I have been eating healthy and just starting drinking Pom juice. He had also said to start taking prenatals...

Question??  Should I start taking them now or wait another month when we start trying?

Do I have to take them everyday? They are so expensive!!!

What do you do??

TIA

  • Start taking them now and take them everyday.  Yeah, they are expensive, but maybe you can try buying a big bottle at like Costco or Sams Club or something?  It's better to have them in your system already before you TTC. :) HTH!

  • My OB suggests to take prenatals for at least 3 months prior to ttc. You don't have to take prescription ones. Target has great ones with everything that you need in them and they are cheap. My OB actually recommends that I always take a prenatal as long as I am in child bearing years. I have been on them for about 5 years now.
  • I 2nd Target.

They're not too expensive - especially when I was buying a regular vitamin anyway. They basically just took the place of my regular vitamin.

My doc said they have everything they need. Plus they're the smallest ones I've seen and they're coated, which make them really easy for me to take (I have a problem taking huge pills)

I have just kept taking them through m/c, TTC.

I hope you find one you like. GL!

  • I too am on the cheap target ones. Also, I have been on the pnv for a little over a year now. Mine and dhs plan was to quit preventing and see what happened. Started pnv in like July. Off bc in feb. Bfp march. Mc April. Ttcal June til now.
  • I started taking mine a month or so before conceiving last time (just switched from the mutivitamin I usually took), and have kept taking them since. It's a good idea to get the extra vitamins in your system, since most of us don't get everything we need from food.

  • Start taking them ASAP. Ideally you should be taking them for three months before getting pregnant as you need that amount of time to build up the extra vitamins/minerals essential during the first critical months of fetal development.
  • If the prenatal vits are too expensive, you can take a womens multi-vitamin with an additional folic acid (400 mcg) supplement.  That keeps the cost down and still provides you with all of the necessary nutrients.  It is very important to take folic acid every day (no more than 1000 mcg total; usually400 in multi and 400 in folic supplement).
