We've been trying about a year. My OB has me on Clomid as my LP is a bit short (usually around 10 or 11 days). I was tested and did have low progesterone. I'm round 3 of Clomid and will be going into round 4 next week. If that fails my OB is going to test my tubes and said at that point nothing she can do and will send me to a specialist.
I'm not sure if a specialist is covered by our insurance and feel like she should be doing more. While on Clomid she didn't even check to see if it is working. I had to call up all worried because the first month my cycle was actually shorter on the clomid and then asked how do we know it's working. She then had me come in to test but I feel frustrated, shouldn't she have been the one to bring up testing?
So do I go right to a specialist or should I look for another OB/GYN who might try to make more of an effort to rule out issues?
Re: Go to new OB/GYN or see specialist?
You really need to be monitored on clomid. It is a serious drug. You also need testing for not only yourself but also your husband. RE's know a ton more about this stuff over gyn's - it is their job to know. There are some gyn's out there who do a thorough job, unfortunatly they are few and far between.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!

Ditto. I would make an appt with a reproductive endocrinologist, they are much more knowledgeable about this type of things.

Clomid will do you no good if your tubes have issues, you have mucus problems or your DH has a low sperm count.
It is time to put a stop to the "tinkering" and go to an RE. Any more than 6 clomid rounds in a lifetime can be dangerous and put you at a higher risk of ovarian cancer. If you Dr. hasn't mentioned the risks of continued clomid use to you, then I would be very nervous about being a part her clomid experiments.
