Soo, if the stress of moving to IVF isn't enough already...
need to vent, then need any tips...
we moved across country for my husbands internship (read- no money), and I left a great paying job, and figured I'd be able to find a job right away. Not! I ended up having my surgery this summer, and got passed over for several local jobs. Good news is now I have a part time position, (1 week a month), that is 800 miles away from where I live now- but will allow me to do my IVF schedule.
2nd- we had a great offer on our house right when we put it on the market- would have enough money to pay off medical bills, mortgage- etc. That offer fell through right before closing, and now we just accepted an offer slightly under what we owe on the house. BUT- it will be a blessing to just have the house sold! Especially since we have already moved, winter is coming, housing prices suck!
so- IVF is coming. if my cyst resolves in time (i developed a new one ON BCPs!). I will hopefully start lupron the 15th (it looks like a long lupron cycle).
What do you all do to help decrease your stress? besides eat candy (I already have a big bag in the cupboard)
I have been mentally under the weather the past few week
Re: Getting rid of stress for IVF
Do you have any pets? playing with them or walking them helps put me in a good mood. If you dont have pets, maybe volunteer once a week to walk dogs at a local shelter.
Other ideas: read books, scrapbook (well I used to- gotta get back on that), take a nice bath, get a massage/mani/pedi, I try to think of a few things each day I am thankful for so I don't focus on all the negative things, take a walk around the neighborhood- enjoy the fall leaves/decorations, go to the movies, go out for dessert, baking (and send most of the goodies w/ DH to work), have a nice cup of tea/hot cocoa.
And of course frequent this board often. I get stressed out a lot too- if you need to talk you can PM me
yeah- I need to walk my dogs. Hmmm. I have 5 dogs. I guess I didn't mention in this post that I am a vet. I think I've just been so 'under' that I haven't even found the motivation to get out for walks with them (I have to take them out separately, 5 at once is crazy!). They are my biggest comfort getting through the day though. Usually it is a puppy pile up on the couch (or at my feet).
Ever just feel like you've lost any momentum to do anything? I probably need to actually just start moving again...
Maybe I'll go to the library today. I have read through most of my books from last time.
I loaded my Ipod with everything from Opera to I want to beat some one up kind of music and laid down. I would visualize what I wanted to happen. It was my way of coping. Depending on my mood I would play Fighter by Christina Agullara. Or Wild Child By Enya. My favorite was to Coldplays Fix you. I had a whole movie playing in my mind when I listened, it was a song for my babies.
Coming here also really helped. I learned to say "NO" from stims to BFP. I asked for help at work for someone to cover my training class, so I could make my monitoring appointments. The class was scheduled for out of town. I NEVER ask for help, I just had to learn to do it.
Good luck! It is overwhelming. This is the time to put yourself first. Oh, and buy some trashy tabliod magazines.
