CD'ers: Wet Bag vs Diaper Pail

What do you use at home? I've been using a wet pail but have been thinking that it would be so much easier to just hang a wet bag on the door and use that instead! They are water proof, but I'm guessing they weren't intended to be filled with water like a bucket. Is the staining on the diaper worse if you don't soak the diaper after use?

I was thinking of getting a Planet Wise Large wet bag with the strap on it, or possibly the wet/dry wet bag with the handles. I wish the large wet bag with the strap had a handle instead!

 Any thoughts? recommendations?

Re: CD'ers: Wet Bag vs Diaper Pail

  • I don't think anyone uses a wet pail anymore for soaking. Its a drowing hazard and unsanitary. I use a pail liner in a regular walmart step trash can. I know a lot of ladies do that as well. Wet bags are intended to hold wet things but not water, KWIM? If I put too many soaking diapers in my wet bag/pail liner it soaks thru the outside. That is where my plastic trash can comes in handy. I do that until wash day, every 2-3 days.

  • We use a garbage pail with a pillow case as a liner and wash every other day.

  • Thanks, I will look into a pail liner and back away from the soaking! Phew, I'm relieved! Soaking poopy diapers is pretty gross.
  • Yeah, we have a plastic step-open 10 gallon trash can from Target and 2 Wahmmies PUL pail liners.  When we do the laundry, the wet bag/pail liner goes in there right with the diapers.  Very little issue with stains and we do laundry every 3rd day (sooner if it's really poopy).
  • We actually do like you suggested in the OP, hang a large Planet Wise hanging wet bag on a hook that is screwed to the wall next to where we change him.  The dirty diapers go in the bag straight from his butt, and then I wash every second day or so.  We have two bags, and when I wash dipes I just empty the bag into the washer and toss the bag in after.  It gets nice and clean, we haven't had any smell issues in his room.   I love not having a trashcan sitting around, because we live in an apartment, and I don't have a laundrytub or garage sink where I could rinse it out, I'd have to do it in the kitchen sink, which I don't like.
