Not tacky. Some people like to buy "practical" gifts, especially women who are already moms... they know you'll get tons of crap you don't actually want or need... so they like to get something you'll definitely use. And knowing the brand you prefer is great.
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Expecting again after IVF
not at all!!!! diapers are expeeensive! my advice would be to register for a few sizes though...you don't want to get stuck with too many newborn ones- jake grew out of those so fast I ended up giving like 80 of them to one of my pg friends.
I'm being asked by several people to put diapers, wipes, lotion, powder, ointment, tylenol, motrin, etc. on my registry. A couple moms told me all of the above were musts and that I should register for all of it since mom's I invite will totally understand needing that stuff.
I don't think it is tacky but I wouldn't put too many... I ran into a great sale on Huggies while I was pregnant and stocked up. Once my daughter was born we discovered that Huggies did not work for her at all. Lots of leaks!
Re: is it tacky to put diapers on registry?
Nope not tacky IMO.
Wipes too. You need them.

No way! But we stuck w/ putting the sensitive ones on just in case. Also, I have lots of leaks w/ huggies so you don't know which will work best.
Here's a link for huggies free sample:

I had lots of friends sign up and even though they aren't my fave, they were free!
I picked up a shower gift this afternoon....I wanted practical and I wish she had put what type of diapers she wanted.
We registered for diapers, wipes and diaper ointment. It's all stuff we're going to need for the baby so I don't think it's tacky.
People like to give these items. Dh's aunt gave us an entire bag of just these items and then some (lotions, powder, etc).
