Is it safe for LO to sleep in Swing at night?

Lately LO has been preferring to sleep in his swing and I don't mind if he does this during the day for naps, but I am wondering if it is safe for him to sleep there all night.

  • I wouldn't ...naps are one thing but all night....I don't think so.

  • As long as DS is latched in, I let him sleep in the swing if he prefers it some nights.

  • We let our DD sleep in it for the first two months.  She just did not like to sleep flat on her back.  We finally just transitioned her to the Pack & Play without a problem.

  • My DS has been sleeping in the swing everynight since he was about 2 wks old, it's either that or nobody sleeps.

    This

Pedi actually told us to (we used the car seat, but same idea)

  • If he's sleeping 2-4 hrs at a time before feeds then sure. If he's going longer then no. DD sleeps in her crib butr sometimes when she wakes at 4 or so and has a hard time falling asleep, we'll put her in the swing since we wake at 6 anyway. Have you tried swaddling him before bed? If so, have you tried putting him to sleep in the swing and then moving him to his bed?

  • DD sleeps in there every night, she loves it. We just make sure she's fastened in. The rocking puts her back to sleep though when she wakes during the night...it's great!

  • Ours slept in the swing and car seat for the first month.  Our pedi had no problem with it.

  • he does usually go longer than 4 hours.  I am afraid I would wake him if i put him in his crib.  He just sleeps so well in that swing.
  • My DD sleeps in there every night...Im trying to transition her to crib but she sleeps sooooooo much better in the swing!
  • DS sleeps in the swing at night. Not a problem right now. Anything to get some sleep in this house!
