how long does organic milk last...

once it's opened? DH and I are lactose intolerant and I still BF DD, so it takes forever for her to get through a carton of whole milk. The one in the fridge now is about 10 days old and doesn't smell bad, but maybe I should toss it?

    There should be a date on it right? I know our organic milk lasts longer than regular milk for some reason.

    My carton says it's best after 5 days of being opened, but ours usually lasts longer than that too. My DS only gets 1 cup a day while at daycare (I'm still bfing too!). He hasn't gotten sick yet. I just go by the date and the smell.

    My raw milk straight from the cow is only good for 7-10 days.  Pasteurized milk tends to last longer.

    I never go by the dates though - if it smells fine I drink it.

    Organinc milk ultrapasteurized and because of that last longer.  I always go by smell.  A friend of mine would buy a gallon and freeze it in tupperware like containers in the amount she'd use in the time frame it would take the milk to go bad.

    This is incorrect ?- just because it us organic doesn't make it unpasteurized!?
