Why 13wks 3 days for 2nd tri? :-/

Just curious, why do ya'll wait until 13wks 3 days until moving to 2nd trimester?

    Some people divide the 40 weeks by 3.  Some go by 13 weeks.  Some go by 12.  I'll go by whatever my OB says and you should too! :)

    My midwife has always said day 1 of 13 weeks starts the 2nd trimester. Day 1 of 28 weeks starts the 3rd. Its what I've always gone by as well, and I think I'll stick to it. ;)

    Which is obvious now.. I had just never heard of people looking at it that way. I know some say 12, some say 13, and some even say 14.. but I'd never heard of people doing it this way.

    Some people go by that. But my doctor says 1st day of 13th week is second tri, so that's what I go by. As far as I'm concerned I'm in my second trimester. But on here everyone seems to go 13 weeks 3 days, so I won't dare post on second tri until then.

    Just clarifying - first day of the 13th week (so 12wks 1day) or 13 wks 1 day?

    Its just a bump thing.  I don't think any doctors go by that at all.  Even though the division makes sense, that is not how trimesters are actually classified.
