XP from BMB: Shower Question

My mom and MIL are co-hosting my baby shower during the first weekend of October. They want to know when to send out invitations since we have a few people coming in from other states. When should the invitations be sent?

Is there etiquette on this like wedding invitations?

    If you want to send the invitations to the OOT's early, do so.  But I honestly wouldn't send the local ones until no more than a month out.  It's a shower, not a wedding.

    Most people say 4-5 weeks before. Some say 2-3 weeks. However, I think it's okay to call out of towners and give them a heads up on the date before invites go out.

    In April I received an electronic save-the-date for a 1st birthday party; the party is in August.

    I would have sent my regrets... I need at least 9 months notice for a first birthday party.
