re: hospital visitors - siblings?

I called our hospital and they have normal formal restrictions on visitors due to the flu.  But they said they do not recommend bringing siblings in.

 I can't imagine not having my kiddos come in to meet their new baby brother.  And since I'm having a c-sect it will be four long days without seeing them.

Are you going to have your kids come in to see the new baby?

    i just called my hospital and ttheir restrictions are only on kids under 16 that are NOT siblings.  Siblings are allowed.

    Yes, as long as my hospital allows it. If she were very sick or something, I'd probably be hesitant, though.

    I can't imagine not having her come meet her baby sister and not seeing her the whole time I am in the hospital.

    i don't have other kids, but i was an Early childcare teacher for years. and i would definitely allow them and welcome them to the hospital. it makes them feel part of it and will allow them to bond and feel less jealous.

    As I said, mine allows siblings, but they don't recommend it due to the flu.  Sigh.

    My DS is getting over sickness, and I am going to be totally selfish and have him come... he's more excited than anyone and would be heartbroken if he couldn't.

    I know DD would be devistated if she couldn't see her baby brother at the hospital.  She's already had a bit of a let down that she wasn't going to go with us.  Wild horses couldn't keep her away.

    Yes, as long as there are no restrictions by the hospital, I will definitely have them come and visit.

    It's really important to me that DS be the first one to meet his sibling (other than me or DH of course!). I hope there are no restrictions and no one is sick when this baby makes his/her arrival.

    DD will be there as long as she's not severely ill. A little cold is OK, but a severe one, no, or, of course any flu symptoms, no. She will be getting a flu shot, so I hope everything will be fine. I definitely don't want a sick newborn. DD got RSV at 5 weeks old and that was no fun!

    I don't know if my hospital has any restrictions or not... but the only way I'd keep DD away is if she were sick herself.  I personally can't imagine not seeing her for 2+ days while I'm there.

    OK ladies you got me concerned so I just got off the phone with my L&D.  As long as DD is up on her shots (which she is) and hasn't had a fever or been sick for two weeks prior she can come to the hospital after the baby is born.
