Build A Bear Heartbeat Recorder

Has anyone ever gone to Build A Bear and bought the heartbeat recorder to have their doctor record (off of the doppler) the babies heartbeat?

We're thinking of doing this, and then going to build a monkey for the baby, as we're doing her nursery in a monkey theme.  Is this totally cheesy? Do the recorders work well? Or would I be better off just recording womb sounds with one of those "Bebe sounds prenatal listeners"?

Re: Build A Bear Heartbeat Recorder

  • I have no experience with this, but I think it would work! We recorded the babies heartbeat on my husband's phone at our last visit. The nurse asked if we wanted to do it and we said, sure! I say go ahead and try! I bet it will work and it sounds like a really cute idea!

  • I hadn't heard of this before, but I like it! I rented a doppler, so I might be able to do it at home.

  • I have a build-a-bear with sound recorded in it. I think if the volume of the heartbeat is right, then it will sound right. My nephew, with help from my mom, made mine and at times it was hard to understand him when he was shouting/ over excited while talking. I think this is a reallyyyy great idea. =) good luck with it.

  • We just did it the other night (after someone posted the idea on here - thanks!)  We have a rented doppler so we used that.  We tried a couple of times and it came out ok.  It's definitely kind of staticy, but you can hear the heartbeat.  It's only maybe a 10 second recording so it's not like it's going to put the baby to sleep or anything, but we thought it was pretty cool to have.  We're going back this weekend to assemble our bear.  :)
