last year for DD (she was 2 weeks old at Christmas) we simply made her a build-a bear. She had no clue at the time what was going on or even that she got anything... but it's a keepsake that she will have forever. We'll be doing the same for this new LO this year.
Since she's due right around Christmas, we're just going to fill a stocking full of little baby things she'll need anyway and maybe some little toys. Perhaps we'll get her a teddy bear for her nursery or something.

Money. DS already has more than enough toys from when he was very little. These 2 will only be a few weeks old, we'll just put some money in an account for them.
We're doing books too. DS is extremely possessive over his books and we don't see him sharing those very well. It's already starting and she isn't even here yet!
Maybe a few books and a cute Christmas outfit. Christmas will be tight for us this year, and I think it would be silly for us to spend money for a bunch of gifts that my baby (who probably won't be more than 7 wks old) will never remember. Plus, both sets of grandparents are sure to spoil the baby anyway.
For DD's first Christmas she was around 3 1/2 months old. "Santa" brought her a holiday Barbie and a rattle. This year for DS we'll more than likely get him two or three small toys so that DD doesn't think that Santa forgot him.
we're getting Carter some clothes, baby uggs (to match the ones we're getting his big brother), small toys, things that we will need and use, DS is 7 and he'll question why Santa didn't bring his baby brother anything if we don't get him anything.
I wanted to do something special, so I'm getting an engraved baby bracelet from this website loveivy.com. Some of their stuff is expensive, but it's really cute.
I just figured getting her a few small things. I kinda feel that my family will end up spoiling on Christmas. I'm an only child and my Grandma had 3 daughters and my mother was the only one to have children. So this is the first baby in the family since I was born!

Great idea! Our baby will only be 13 days old if she comes on the EDD. And a butt load of clothes and toys. I already know my family plans on buying baby stuff for her.
This is a tough one because she is due Christmas Eve. So, we haven't really decided what we are doing. I am actually hoping she is comes after Christmas but before New Year's so she will be a little older for her first Christmas!

I will be doing something similar. LO will only be 2 weeks old, so Santa will be bringing her a sterling silver locket & a bracelet with her initials on it. I wanted to get her something for Christmas, and make it a keepsake item.

Ahhh I go crazy over baby uggs...so cute!!!
I'm due December 10th, and he obviously won't remember his first Christmas, but I've got to get him something anyway! It's more for me than anyone...I love to shop. I'm so glad someone mentioned a stocking, I had completely forgot about that!! A lot of you had some great ideas some of which I will probably be stealing.

OMG. I love this idea. I was probably just going to get a couple books or an outfit and say it was from Santa for the benefit of my nieces and nephews, but I am totally ripping off your idea. Thanks!
We probably won't be buying too much- he won't remember it. Maybe some books or the jumperoo from our registry since he'll be able to use it in the new year.
If anybody is interested in more than just a hallmark baby's first christmas kind of ornament check this place out. www.bronners.com It's here in MI and it's a HUGE christmas store. It's kinda one of those places that if you live here you've been there or have a personalized ornament from there. I just ordered one for the baby and one for my husband (first christmas as a dad 2009) with his name on it. They have a ton of christmas stuff. It's about an hour and half from where I live and when you go there you have to plan on spending some serious time just walking around and looking at all the cool stuff. I love Bronners.
We'll probably get her an excersaucer and maybe the swing if we have't gotten it already. Also, I plan to get her this super cute Bambi snowglobe from the Disney store. Some books too.
I will have a personalized stocking made and fill it with some things and I will also be getting a baby's first xmas ornament with her name on it, her birth date, weight, height, etc. Can't wait for xmas and can't believe we will have our LO by then! So exciting!!

LOVE THIS!!! Thanks so much for the idea!!

Re: What are you getting baby for Christmas?
We will be starting her library collection.
Me too! I am SO excited for her first Christmas.

Baby's first Christmas ornament anda toy he'll like. I know my mo has the present picked out- the walker/jumper DH wants really bad.
My mIL is getting him a little plastic trike- not sure he'd use it anytime soon, but a gift is a gift:)
