Well we started giving her squares (cut into 4s) at about 15 months. However, she opens the sandwich, takes out whatever is in it, sticks her finger into the butter or avocado or cream cheese, licks that off and proceeds to eat it in her own way.
I give her a half a sandwhich and just recently around 17 months stopped cutting it up into pieces. Now she actually takes civilized bites. Before then she wiould try to shove it all in her mouth at once!
Re: When did you start giving LO sandwiches "whole?"

Weird kid.
What kinds of sandwiches would you give him then?
Cucumber and cream cheese, grilled cheese & ham, ham and cheese, turkey & avocado (I use avocado instead of butter sometimes) Simple is best.
Jo can't have peanuts so that is heartbreaking and I can't just slap some peanut butter and jam on good bread.
Also she eats the bread full of stuff. Dark brown bread with seeds and flax. She's never had white and never had an issue.
Back then, it was primarily grilled cheese. Now he has PB&J, cream cheese and honey (breakfast), and cream cheese with various veggies.
