I am in the process of scheduling an ivf consult appt with Mainline Fertility for sometime in November, but had a few questions first that I was hoping you all could help me out with.
I've heard wonderful things about Dr. Glassner and would really like to get in with him. When I called they said that he only sees patients in Paoli and Bryn Mawr, even though the West Chester location would be closer to my house. Do you prefer one office over the other? Once you are a patient, do you visit both of these offices or do you only visit one office? Do you see other doctors in the practice also? If so, do you like the other doctors?
Also, is there a waiting list for IVF w/ DE if you know that info? This is a question that I can ask once I go in, but I was just curious for now.
Anything else that you could give me a heads up about, that would be great (such as they are always running late, so try to schedule in the am, great staff, etc.).
Thanks for your help!
Re: questions about Mainline Fertility in Philly
I see Dr. Orris but I got Dr. Glassner once for an IUI.
Dr. Glassner seemed a bit more open and friendly than Dr. Orris. In my experience Dr. Orris is a man of few words and he is sarcastic. I like his sarcastic side but I wish he would tell me more with out me having to ask.
When Dr. Orris does the IUI he does it slowly and even made mention of placing the sperm on the side I had O'd on. He sort of said it in jest but I still think it's neat that he would even think about that. When Dr. Glassner did it, it was a 2 second process. That is the only time I had cramping. The cramping probably wasn't related to the speed of the procedure but who knows. I just like that Dr. Orris takes his time.
As far as the offices. If you do IVF you will have to go to the Bryn Mawr office regardless. They have a whole special team and area devoted to IVF and it is in Bryn Mawr. For non-IVF appointments I have been to all of the offices.
The front desk ladies can be aggravating/disorganized especially at W.C., but all of the nurses I have dealt with have been helpful.
I have no idea about a waiting list. I've been a patient since early this year. I will start my first IVF cycle in mid-Oct.
HTH. G/L!
I go to Main Line Fertility, and I see Dr. Glassner, and I love him. I've never seen any of the other doctors, but I think that the Bryn Mawr Office (we live in Manayunk, so Bryn Mawr is closer to me), is their head office, and all IVF takes place there. The nurses are great, too - it's a really good facility.
I saw Dr. Blasco when I initially went with Main Line as they were my 2nd opinions then switched to Dr. Glassner who I prefer. I saw Dr. Blasco in the Oaks office as that was closer and went to Bryn Mawr for another procedure. My last appt with Dr. Glassner was in the Paoli office which is close to where I work. Bryn Mawr is definitely a trek from where I live. If you feel Paoli is closer to you, then go there but make your appointments when Dr. Glassner has hours there.
I was told by Glassner to match a donor would take 2 months depending on your criteria so it might be longer than 2 months if you're a bit pickier. Also you can call Amy Fisher who's the Anonymous Egg Donation Nurse Coordinator, if you have any questions. I also requested some paperwork from them as well which goes over the entire procedure. I would love to talk to you more in depth so please pm as we plan on go this route within the next year.
I personally prefer morning appointments as it's hard for me to leave work in the middle of the day especially if I have to trek to Bryn Mawr. Dr. Glassner makes you feel comfortable....he has great bedside manners.

I'm a patient of Dr. Orris and I just got back from a monitoring appointment in the West Chester office. West Chester is a bit far for me but that's where he was today so I didn't have a choice. I see him in either Paoli or West Chester, I've never been to Bryn Mawr.
I really like him, like the post above says...he's a man of few words but I think he puts a lot of thought into his plan and is very methodical. I haven't seen the other doctors but a friend of mine saw Pheffer and really liked him.
I don't have any info on IVF, I'm not quite there yet but want to wish you luck in your journey!
Thanks for all of the info ladies! I really appreciate it!!! I'm excited to call, but also nervous because this is for a 2nd opinion, so we'll see how it goes.
I have to drive over an hour for my current RE (and will if I decide to go with Main Line) because they don't do a DE program near me, unfortunately.
Thanks again! You ladies rock!
