Rec your non-IPhone cell phone please!

Alaina broke my boring ole Crazr last week so MH got it replaced with some seriously clunky old style flip phone (they've discountinued the Crazr now which is understandable, I've had it for gosh 5 yrs now?). Not that the Crazr is some high tech piece either but this replacement phone feels like a step down to me.

MH has an IPhone and loves it and keeps wanting me to take on his so he can justify upgrading to some newer version of the IPhone but I kinda wanted something small and alot more simple. I just don't think I'll ever use all of those features.

So which phone are you using now that you are really happy with and why? We use ATT if that helps (I think it does?). TIA!!

  • Don't you love everyone coming in here recommending the iPhone when you said you didn't want it?

But really...it's a pretty sweet device....and I've had them all, including Blackberries. And no dropped calls, ever.

Yep.  Me too. I am so happy with my iPhone.  I did have some dropped calls issues and I called Apple... We ran through some things and now I have very little issues.

My BFF has a blackberry storm and she wishes she could have gotten the iPhone.  I guess it all depends on personal prefrence.  I hear the Palm Pre is pretty awesome but I dont know if you even have a need for email etc.

  • If you are with AT&T and you don't have an iPhone, you are totally defeating the point of having AT&T.

I had a Blackberry before and it pales in comparison.

  • Blackberry curve. I love it!

I think that's my issue. I don't need email. I don't use the internet now on my phone so don't even know what I'm missing. I don't play games or music on phones. I don't even care about ringtones (the simplest sounds/beeps make me happy). I haven't even used the camera on my phone in over 6mos! lol. Yeah, I'm a super boring phone owner.

All I find really useful is a kick-arse speaker phone and I'm a sucker for a nice clean display.

All that said, I am still interested in a phone that looks nice/stylish and does those things at some basic/more than basic level 'just in case'.

Okay....those that rec'd the IPhone (despite my post's title lol)........will I get over the size coming from a slim-ish, thin, small flip phone? And are any of you SAHM's? I wonder that because I really don't find a need to email anyone while I'm at the supermarket or taking the cat to the vet kwim? And doesn't this phone sort of require some huge internet package to use the phone?

    TIA!!

Meh. I've had the same cell phone number for 10 yrs now and have never switched companies. I started out with Cell One or something like that lol. So, I didn't choose ATT, I simply became an ATT customer from all of the changeovers :)

Yes, it requires a $30/month internet package.

I didn't have any internet/email capabilities with my last phone ... other than a crappy camera, all it did was make phone calls.  I promise you though, once you have it, you WILL use it.  Dude, when you're waiting at the pedi's office, you can be ON THE BUMP.  You can take video of your kid ANYWHERE.  You can take a pic of your kid and upload it to FB right there.  When you're shopping for groceries you can check recipies right then to make sure you're getting all of the ingrediants.  Oh, and the Maps app is the most awesomest navigation system ever ... it's a lifesaver  :)

  • I don't have a lap top and my com-puter sucks at home, so I use the internet on it all the time! I can Bump right from my bed! I also have a weather app for my area, a grocery store shopping list app (awesome), AllRecipes.com app that helps me find and save recipes. The Map App is awesome for navigating. Google App. Facebook App. I have an app that figures out the tip or how to split a bill equally. I have an app to buy movie tickets fast. I use the You Tube app for DS when we are waiting and look up kiddie shows. The news, email, games, voice memos, camera phone....

    :;sigh:: I love it.

I may not use these apps all day every day, but they are great when I need them.

Ditto.  Use this A LOT.  Also love all the free apps that you can get to entertain your LO.  DS loves the bubblewrap app.  It has never failed me in a cranky situation.
