How many days of spotting before it's considered a period?

Hi ladies, I posted this on TTTC but wanted to get your input as well.  

I am on day 29 of my first cycle of Clomid and about 11 DPO. Since Sunday morning I have been spotting...mostly brown (yesterday it was pinkish in the morning and then a larger spot of really dark, and then light spotting the rest of the day). I had cramps last week Friday but none since then. Yesterday I took a test and it was negative.

Any thoughts? Is this a whacked out period responding to the clomid? My period cycles normally varied from 35-45 days, and I've never been able to feel ovulation before, so unfortunately I can't rely on any kind of regularity to tell me what is going on.

    I have spotted for up to 10 days prior to my period. You could *just* be spotting and AF is around the corner. I would not count it as AF until you have full, bright red flow. However, since this your first time spotting like this I would suggest calling your doctor. Good luck!
