Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I just had to share this!

I haven't posted on here in awhile, but I just wanted to share a great tip that I got from a friend. If DD puts something in her mouth, it always scares me when I stick my finger in her mouth to get it out because I don't want to push it farther down into her throat. So my friend suggested that I lean DD forward and pinch her nose. It's natural instinct for her to then open her mouth, and the object just falls right out onto the floor! So I tried it this morning, and it worked like a charm! :)

  • Glad it worked.  I think Lucy would hold her breath until I gave up, and then yell at me for 5 minutes straight though.  Seriously.

  • I will definitely keep that in mind!

Have you ever tried asking her to "spit it out"? I did once, thinking DD would have no clue what I meant.. I said "spit it out!" and put my hand under her chin. She leaned forward and spit it right out immediately! I was shocked. That works for us now, but if she ever doesn't, I'll remember the pinch the nose trick :)
