Braxton Hicks?

I don't think I have really had any to speak of. Some people I have heard say they can't really tell the difference between BH & movement. So I was just wondering what yours feel like. I like to think I would know the difference. And for the record, yes I am embarrassed to be asking this question. Thanks in advance ladies...

Re: Braxton Hicks?

  • For the past couple days i've been having them lots mostly when i get up and move around.  your belly feels really tight all over.  it doesn't hurt but feels really uncomfortable for it to be so tight.  after about 30 seconds or so, then it relaxes again and feels softer.

  • My stomach gets really tight for maybe a minute and sometimes it is even hard to breath.
  • have you ever felt your baby push up  really hard against you and his/her little butt or body kind of bulges out and the spot gets really hard?

Well a BH is like that feeling only all over your entire uterus ( usually) and lasts from anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.

it's an awkward feeling and I think some women feel it can be painful at times.

Exactly like this. At first I thought "wow LO is really active" then I remembered that unless she is doing the splits in my stomach it shouldn't feel like that on both sides of my stomach.

  • I describe it as when you suck the air out of a ziplock bag or something. Your stomach gets really tight and hard and I personally will feel a lot of pressure down low as well and my breathing gets labored during and that gets really uncomfy. Then when it is over there is a sense of relief and I can feel my stomach get loose again.
  • I've had a few weeks ago but lately I haven't felt any.  When I went to the hospital, sent by my Dr. at my last visit to rule out preeclamisa, they set me up with a nst and I was having uterine irritability which is braxton hicks she said and I couldn't feel them at all.

For some people they are uncomfortable, even painful and others don't feel them, at leaast that's been my experience and what I've read...

  • I have a stupid BH question... does everyone definatly get them? or is it something that most women but not all get?
  • sunday we were at the mall and I had a sharp pain that stopped me dead in my tracks and made me bend over. A couple minutes later it happened again and then again. I haven't had any since. I assumed it was BH. My tummy got real tight and hurt. I know they say that BH usually aren't painful but I am a bit of a baby.

  • Well I did think that it was movement, it felt like it does when he "rolls" but then I touched my belly and realized that my belly was really hard. It also kind of takes my breath away a little bit like the pp said.
