F/U names you hate for your LO

I was just catching up and I saw the nicknames for your LO post. 

People in my family call him Abner.  I guess like in Lil Abner, the comic.  I hate it.  Even people I am not close with are calling him that now.

My question is, do you say something? Let it go? I am afraid of sounding too biitchy and I guess it's not such a big deal.

    Yes if you want too!  We didn't want people calling our son Andy...as a short name for Anderson, so we told people we were NOT calling him Andy and that was not allowed. LOL.

    I wanted to name our son Abner.  I love that name.  Embarrassed  I can undestand though if you don't like it.  Andrew and Abner aren't close IMO.

    Ds# 1 name ins Robert and we made it clear to family that he would not be a Bobby. That said, there is an older woman at our church who insisted on calling him Bobby all the time (that is her son's name so I guess she assumed that was what we would use too) dh politely told her one day that we were not using Bobby as a nickname but were using Robbie instead and since then she has used Robbie. So I would politely tell them that you are using a different/no nickname.

    I would say something, my grandparents tried to call my DD Harley and I told them politely that I prefer the nickname Low since I couldn't see a connection between Harley and Harlow, it took them awhile but they finally stopped.

    My LO's first name is Manuel and I can't stand when people call him Manny. People do this to his father, which is why we gave him the nickname Tres (he is the 3rd). I have also told my ILs that he won't be called gordito-or anything else that implies he's fat.

    I call LO gordo or gordis!  It's a term of endearment for many Hispanics.  But I can see how some are offended by it.  I have a ton of nicknames for him in Spanish.

    Thats funny! It's not that I hate Abner, but it's hard for me to get used to saying his name at all.  We want him to be Drew eventually, but are just getting used to him being Andrew if that makes sense.

    I love the name Anderson.  Better choice IMO!  Wink

    We have lots of Spanish nicknames for LO, too...although I really hate that my MIL call him Mateito...I think it is because my family never really used the ito/ita ending on names, just words like hijito.  To each their own. :)
