I make a lazy mom's grilled cheese. I put a piece of bread in the toaster (light setting) and then melt the cheese on top of it in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds. I don't use butter. Then I pull off the crust and fold the bread in half. DD LOVES grilled cheese and anything else cheese related.
I put butter in it. I will also admit I make mine with butter. It just taste better.
Anyways I actually asked my pedi this question with my daughter because it was really the only finger food she would eat for the longest time.
No lie she ate it at least 1 time a day. So I told the doctor I was worried because I made it with butter and is that okay.
His answer - Yes, at this age they actually need that fat and cholestrol to help with brain development.
So I don't worry about it.
It is actually better for them if you use real butter. Your body knows how and can break down butter better then if you say use margrine or any other substitue type butter. My doctor also told me this,
