What brand do you use?
When did you start?
Annd, do you think I would be ok starting now? The girls are on their last can of formula, they turn one in a week, but we don't have their one year appointment until mid-October (since we didn't do our first pedi appt until they came home from the NICU)
Re: A few whole milk questions
No particular brand
Slowly started at 10.5 months.
Do it! It is so liberating to be free of formula.
We've just used Horizon so far.
We started mixing it with BM a week or 2 before she turned one.?
An Organic whole milk--no particular brand.
We started offering around 12 months, but when we went for our 12 month pedi appointment we learned we should have started sooner.
We use Kemps Select, it comes "from farmers that pledge to not use artificial growth hormones"...I suppose they still could though.
I'd go ahead and switch now!
Horizon Organic DHA - as well.
I started giving her a bit of whole milk at 11mo. If I mix it with strawberry flavoring - she actually drinks it!
She's been BF'd, and never had formula. I'm not sure if that makes a difference due to taste?
Any organic brand, but I have bought "regular" :::gasp!:::
I'd switch now. That way, you could mix in some formula to get them used to it easier.
I started right after her 12 mo appt because I asked the pedi at her 9 mo and he said to wait and then introduce slowly. She was on full whole milk and out of bottles by 2 weeks after her birthday.
I use regular store brand because it says no artifical growth hormones so I figure it is okay for her. She will also drink occasional organic if on sale and soy. I find walgreens is really cheap to buy milk.
Carter James
Regular whole milk whatever store brand is available. She got a few oz with dinner in a sippy from 11-12 months and we went 1/2 with formula to use it up for a week and then to straight whole milke with no issues.
