We went to school together and we are now facebook friends. She is 20, but she has always been very immature for her age and still is obviously. She is 34 weeks pregnant and I see on her page that she is talking about going out in their speed boat in an attempt to go into labor. I couldn't help it, I butted in and was like-
Me: "Why on earth would you wish your baby to be born at 34 weeks? She isn't even full term yet!"
Her: "Well, I am measuring a week ahead when the Dr. measures me so it's really like I am 35 weeks. I just want her here so bad!"
Me: "Still not full term...and just because your measurments are a week ahead does not mean your baby is a week ahead developmentally. Her lungs are not even done developing yet, and chances are if you had her at 34 weeks she would possibly be in NICU at least for a little while. Is that really worth it, just so you can have her here? You would possibly have to go home without her too, so which would you rather have, a healthy full term baby you can bring home with you or a baby born at 34 weeks just so you could have her, and take the change of her health and not even being able to take her home with you anyway?"
Her: "I know
"
I mean don't get me wrong, there were plenty of times I would be so over being pregnant and just ready to get my LO out, but really?!? Don't be stupid about it...
Re: So this girl I know....vent
thats horrrible & scary!!
I'm so nervous because I've had super bad cramps & wish nothing more than my baby stays put for another 5-6 weeks. I know the time will fly by but I would be miserable to see my LO in the NICU.
SOME PEOPLE.......
Lol...yea I didn't even go there with the speed boat thing...It would have been like talking to a wall anyway...
HA! I'm so glad you spoke up.
A guy I know kept wanting his wife to go into labor starting at around week 32. She ended up having to be induced past her due date (THANK GOD). I was really scared for that baby and kept trying to tell him that baby isn't read. His response? "God will take care of our baby!"
Uh, well God also made pregnancy 40 weeks for a reason, Bub.
