What can I do to get DS to stop

throwing Monks over the crib rail when I put him down for his naps?  Do I need to do a "monk-it-out" type thing...where I let him fuss b/c he's thrown him over?  B/c that's what he does...he gets mad once he's over, and I can tell the whine/cry, so I go in, don't say anything to him and put Monks back in his crib.  I know that it's becoming a game to him (or that's what it seems like).  Should I just let him get pissed and realize that that's what happens when he throws Monks over?

TIA!  Smile

ETA:  Monks is his stuffed monkey. :)

  • What is a monk?

  • Yep.  If he throws it over, tough.  If he wants his "monk" or doll or lovey, etc, then he shouldnt throw it over.  Def MIO.  He'll realize that you aren't playing his game anymore.

I'm assuming his Monkey lovey or stuffed animal.

I give DD 3 chances.  I also though give her 3 loveys in her crib- LOL but she does have a favorite.  I only go in if she is pretty upset- when she doesn't calm down right away I know something is wrong so I'll go in and check on her and usually one or all 3 loveys have gone overboard.  I usually only have to go in once though.

    GL!

  • IMHO babies are smarter than alot of people give them credit for. I would let him figure out that once he throws it out its gone. And tell him "Once you throw Monks out he's all gone". He'll catch on and you'll save your sanity. We've never played the whole "baby throws something on the ground and we pick it up" game. Once he throws something he doesn't get it back, and he figured that out pretty quickly.

  • I don't think there's really anything you can do. I'd probably just quit putting it back in his crib because (like you said) it may become more of a game. DS usually tosses his lion and monkey out of the crib during naps, but once they're on the other side, they stay there until after naptime.
