straining so it seems to poop

Is there anything I can give ds to make him more comfortable while or before he poops? It appears like he's straining and freaks out while he's doing it.TIA

Re: straining so it seems to poop

  • Is he constipated or is he just a strainer? My DD has mushy poo's (tmi?) but grunts and strains and cries. Some babies just dont enjoy a good poo i guess.

  • My DS went through that forever. It just now, like in this past week stopped. I know it's terrible to go through and he would get so mad and cry or it hurt him. I started adding probiotics to his bottles, once a day per the directions on the probiotic bottle. It really helped his digestive systme and intestines.
  • Their abdomen muscles don't really develop until 12 or 13 weeks so they'll sometimes struggle to poop. Its normal. I put DD on her belly sometimes and the pressure helps. Also a warm cloth on the belly can help.
  • My son is doing the same thing. I feel so bad for him but his pediatrician said it was normal. I can't wait till this phase is over.
